Where are You, God?

Have you ever asked that question when life was pressing in on you and it seemed like God was not listening to your cry for help? Or maybe you have prayed for change/something for a long time and nothing has happened? I have. Are you asking that question now?

Where is God in the midst of what feels so hopelessly overwhelming and unending in life?  We hear God’s voice in scripture; “I am here. I am with you. Do not be afraid. I’ve got you covered.” Ps. 23; Matt. 28:20; Heb. 13:5-6

You may say, “I don’t hear Him saying that. Why don’t I hear His voice?”

My sheep hear My voice…” John 10:27 (i)Do you know you’re one of His sheep? We don’t normally ‘hear’ His voice with our physical senses but rather by a relationship established by faith and “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. Romans 10:17 (ii)Are you listening intently and consistently to His voice in scripture? We can be so intent on working our plan that we lose sight of God’s plan or miss His redirection/mid-course correction.

God is saying, “Be still. Cease striving. Let go and really know that I AM God. There is no other. I will be exalted among the nations.” Ps. 46:10 “Look to Me! All who do will not be disappointed.” Rom. 10:11

And specifically for God’s people when we seek to be close to God: “we are not thinking of the nearness of place, but of the nearness of relationship. It is for increasing degrees of awareness that we pray, for a more perfect consciousness of the divine Presence. We need never shout across the spaces to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thoughts.” –A.W. Tozer
