Lord Jesus, Be Real to Us Today

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.  John 4:24

All our present life is spent in the physical world using physical senses – sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. There is an even more real (certainly longer lasting) unseen realm. It takes faith and practice to SEE/sense what’s real in the spirit world. It takes rebirth/born again/born of the Spirit/resurrection life (which comes by grace through faith in Jesus) to SEE what God is doing.

Jesus wants us to SEE more than the physical. The disciples struggled with this. Jesus said, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has SEEN Me has SEEN the Father.” “After a little while the world (unbelievers and physical eyes) will no longer see Me, but you will SEE Me; (How? With new spiritual eyes of faith.) because I live, you will live (spiritual/resurrection life) also.” John 14:9,19

We are actually encouraged to SEE others in the same way we SEE Jesus and not just see them as they seem to be at present. 2 Corinthians 5:16 “Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh yet now we know Him in this way no longer. Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creature:…”

(Isn’t it interesting that Philip was also the one some Greeks came to earlier (John 12:21) asking, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” I think they were asking to SEE Jesus since Jesus responded with “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.” i.e the cross, His provision for any and all to SEE Him.)

We have to focus (fix our eyes on Jesus Heb. 12:2) to not just see life in and around us but to SEE Jesus in Real life. We must use eyes of faith to SEE beyond the physical to what God is doing in the spiritual. And there we can be renewed (experience resurrection life) in the inner person every day. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

So I pray often, “Lord Jesus, be Real to us today, a living, bright Reality.” Do you SEE Him?
