Demanded… with Empty Hearts
Psalm 106:14-15 MSG They only cared about pleasing themselves in that desert, provoked God with their insistent demands. He gave them exactly what they asked for…but along with it they got an empty heart.
What have you demanded and received, only to be left with an empty heart? Was it a certain relationship? Recognition? Accomplishment? Award? Possession? Status?
One of the ways we make demands is regarding the way He reveals Himself to us…John 14:21 We can claim we keep His commands and demand that we feel His Presence, that we see Him working,..usually by giving us what we’re asking….and that He do it now.
“To pray in the Name of Christ is to pray as one who is at one with Christ, whose mind is the mind of Christ, whose desires are the desires of Christ, and whose purpose is one with that of Christ.” (Samuel Chadwick)
‘Ask whatever you wish’ (John 15:7) is predicated on ‘if you remain in me and my words remain in you’. Beware when asking morphs into demanding.
