The Holy Spirit Interprets Our Prayers

Do you ever feel like you really don’t know how to pray?  It’s true, so don’t worry about it.  Pray anyway and keep on praying.  God the Holy Spirit has us covered.

Romans 8:26-27 And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

I can imagine that when we pray, the Holy Spirit helps our weakness by interpreting for us.  He takes our words and the sighs of our hearts and translates them into ‘groanings too deep for words’ that are according to the will of God.

Maybe that’s one reason Paul admonishes us to ‘pray always in the Spirit.’  Eph. 6:18

With this in mind, keep alert and look for God’s answer to a ‘translated’ prayer – which may be much different than what you had in mind when you prayed.  And remember His answers are so much better than our requests because His ways are so much higher than ours.  Isa. 55:9

  1. Thank you, Lauris, what a wonderful reminder when we feel, many times, that our prayers are
so weak and ineffective. It shows how God’s Spirit can make something wonderful out of nothing!
