Praise Him, for God Inhabits Praise!

I’m so glad we don’t have to worry about word-smithing our prayers or that there’s some ‘prayer language’ we must use to be heard.  I’m convinced that some prayers can’t even be put into words and yet Father hears them and understands.  Matt. 6:8  …for your Father knows what you need, before you ask Him.

That’s not to say that we can be careless and flippant.  The fear of God is good and unavoidable as we get to know Him in His awesome otherness.

Closely tied to that, I’m so glad I don’t have to actually verbalize everything I need.  (That would be impossible anyway.)  “You have not because you ask not. Jas. 4:2” does not equate to “You don’t have unless you ask.”

I’m finding that when I focus on praise and adoration and worship and thanksgiving, my needs are met as well.  I think that’s because God inhabits the praises of His people. Ps. 22:3  Also note this is how Jesus taught His disciples to begin their prayers.

Praise and giving thanks make me aware of the presence and power of God in my situation and helps get my focus back on Him.
