Prayer and Human Will
I have often felt discouraged in praying for another person’s salvation when observing the demonstration of a strong will set against God. Does God overcome a resistant will?
Duh. He had to overcome my resistance to bring me to faith. Didn’t He you?
John 15:16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you…
1 John 5:16 deals with intercession and a person’s will. “If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life…” (There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that.)
Oswald Chambers says, “Intercessory prayer for one who is sinning prevails; God says so. The will of the person prayed for does not come into question at all; he is connected with God by prayer, and prayer on the basis of the redemption sets the connection working and God gives life.”
Unless you are sure there is sin that leads to death, PRAY.
Pray for your loved one to be saved, to experience real life. Pray for your friend to come to Jesus. Pray for all men. 1 Timothy 2:1
